As of March 30th, two of MenuTrinfo’s food allergy and training courses, AllerTrain and AllerTrain Lite, gained ANSI accreditation. This is good news for anyone looking to take one or both of these courses! With ANSI accreditation, MenuTrinfo can insure that you’re getting the highest quality allergen and gluten-free training available. MenuTrinfo is the first in dedicated allergen training to gain the ANSI seal of accreditation.
What is AllerTrain?
In a nutshell, MenuTrinfo’s AllerTrain classes provide the knowledge, training, and confidence needed to offer gluten-free and allergy-friendly menu items. The purpose of AllerTrain is to assist course participants in gaining a thorough understanding of food allergies, Celiac disease, and food intolerances through evidence-based job training. By providing the skills, knowledge and competencies necessary to ensure safe production and delivery of special dietary needs meals, AllerTrain aims to improve overall safety in the food service industry.
What is ANSI?
ANSI stands for The American National Standards Institute. It facilitates the development of American National Standards (ANS) by accrediting the procedures of standards developing organizations. These groups work cooperatively to develop voluntary national consensus standards. Accreditation by ANSI signifies that the procedures used by the standards body in connection with the development of American National Standards meet the Institutes essential requirements for openness, balance, consensus and due process.
The Accreditation Process
MenuTrinfo started down the accreditation path in April of 2014. Jennifer Frank, Director of Education and Training spearheaded this campaign alongside MenuTrinfo founder and CEO Betsy Craig.
Jennifer mentions, “It was a long road but the outcome is insurmountable as we have just made an already great program even better by being able to state that we are the only ANSI accredited program on the market.”
During the ANSI accreditation process an oversight committee was formed consisting of top industry professionals. Their “service was invaluable to us during this process,  and they are a huge part of why we reached the goal line,” says Craig.
