While MenuTrinfo does focus on human dietary needs, we care about the pets out there, too! And believe it or not, pets can have gluten intolerances! So, this very special post is for all of the animal lovers out there! These DIY gluten-free dog treats are great for dogs with or without gluten issues, and I promise you— your dog will love them!
These delightful little snacks have been doggie tested and approved, as I just couldn’t stop myself from making a batch for the dog in my life. The tinsy tiniest most bitsyest, Bitsy for short, enjoyed a treat or two shortly after they were made (and is still enjoying them because they store really well in the freezer).
This recipe for No Bake Peanut Butter Dog Treats was super easy to make, and I’ll show you how it’s done!
This one’s for the dogs:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup milk
- 3 cups old fashioned oats (make sure to buy gluten-free oats if your puppy is sensitive to gluten)
Step 1: Using a mixer, beat pumpkin puree, peanut butter and milk together until well-mixed.
Step 2: Gradually add in 2 ½ cups of the oats and beat until combined.
Step 3: Using a small cookie scoop (or your hands if you don’t mind a little pumpkin goo), roll the mixture into small balls. Once ball is formed, dredge the ball in the remaining oats.
Step 4: Cover and place in the refrigerator until firm. This step should take about an hour.
Step 5: Clean the beaters!
Step 6: Enjoy!
Depending on how small you form the balls, this could make anywhere from 20-45 treats! Store leftover treats in the freezer, and then thaw before serving. Your dog is sure to be happy for days to come—I know Bitsy will be for sure!
This is a great way to do something special for your pet, while being mindful of any dietary restrictions your pet may have. Go ahead, serve your pooch something healthy and delicious!
